Rob the alien space bat wants to see how well the Royal Navy of June 1966 would perform at the Battle of Jutland. He decides to send the fleet back in time to see how the battle plays out, replacing the Royal Navy of June 1916. The Imperial German Navy order of battle remains as it was historically (see here). He decides to try the battle out a few different ways.

In Scenario A the Royal Navy gets to use its full arsenal. Unfortunately for the Royal Navy the new WE.177 tactical nuclear bombs and Resolution class ballistic missile submarines are a few months from delivery, so they don't get to use them.

Scenario A Order of Battle (Royal Navy)

In Scenario B Rob decides to test the Royal Navy's surface fleet alone, leaving out the submarines. After all, the Royal Navy of 1916 wasn't very fond of submarines, and the K class steam powered fleet submarines weren't even in commission yet to serve as a comparison.

Scenario B Order of Battle (Royal Navy)

For Scenario C Rob decides to leave out both the submarines and fleet aircraft carriers. Naval aviation in 1916 was mostly used for reconnaissance, so there isn't really a direct comparison. He'll let them keep the helicopter carriers though (HMS Hermes is removed from the Centaur class ships available due to its light strike role).

Scenario C Order of Battle (Royal Navy)

For Scenario D Rob decides to leave out all submarines and aircraft carriers. After all, there weren't any aircraft carriers at the historical Jutland. Only gun and missile armed surface ships go to battle.

Scenario D Order of Battle (Royal Navy)

For Scenario E Rob decides to have it be a test of guns and steel. No submarines or aircraft carriers go to battle and the County class do not participate as well due to the anti-ship capabilities of the Mark 2 Seaslug. Rob allows ships armed with or designed for 21 inch torpedoes the option of equipping anti-ship torpedoes.

Scenario E Order of Battle (Royal Navy)

How do these various scenarios play out?
